Pulling Crimped Bullets

My Custom .45 Raptor barreled action should arrive any time, so I'm preparing to load for it. Since I could not find brass I ended up buying a few boxes of Magtech ammo loaded with 245 HTP pistol bullets. I planned to pull the bullets but that is more difficult than I expected. Even with trying to grip them with channel locks in the press the bullet is too short to grip and pull through the crimp. I'm sure an impact puller would be way worse and I haven't used one in years. Short of driving a screw into the bullet and grabbing that, any other ideas?

The chamber is set up for a 327gr. Parker bullet and OAL of 2.850, I really don't want to shoot these if I can avoid it.

Try one of the Hornady bullet pullers with the collet. Much better than the hammer inertia type bullet puller when pulling hard crimped bullets.

Yup, get that Hornady puller. I've pulled batches of 100 bullets with it that would be impossible to do with a kinetic puller without breaking it.

Thanks Guys, It's ordered. Hopefully a .458 has enough pinch in it, I did not see a .452 Collet.

RCBS has a collet #9440 and then your collet size that can pull bullets with your Rock Chucker.
Makes it easy to pull stubborn bullets.

Thanks Guys, It's ordered. Hopefully a .458 has enough pinch in it, I did not see a .452 Collet.

Collet 13 is designed to work with .451 to .458 bullets. You adjust the size by screwing it further onto the handle for larger, less for smaller bullets.

Glad to hear it. I have lots of pullers, the only one that gets much use anymore is the Hornady. Just a far superior design.
