What year was the rifle made in? 08 and after require you to open the throat of the magazine well wider to actually get the magazine in.

Also, in 08, it became an intermediate length action for WSM calibers, so a short action caliber would have a little more room and the WSM's would work well, but standard LA calibers won't work well for a magazine box conversion.

If you have one of the FN made post 08, then get a CDI, if it's a push feed model 70, the PTG is a good choice. You may still have to widen the throat for the magazine.

It was originally a M70 Black Shadow in 300 WM when purchased new in 2002. The rifle is now in a H-S Precision stock, has a Benchmark barrel, and a Timney trigger. The only thing stock is the action and bolt. From your description it sounds like this should work and if not then a little milling will be needed to fit the mag properly.
