Proof PXT testing with Alex Wheeler

I placed my order for a .284 CF PXT. With a little luck, the extra cost will be outweighed by extended bore life. If higher velocities are obtainable, that would just be icing on the cake. Naturally, accuracy is job #1, but I take the new barrel's accuracy potential for granted.

If the barrel life improvent and accuracy of PXT proves to be what they claim, I see a bunch of re-barrels in my future. Especially my 22-250, 6.5-300, and probably all of my Ar-15's.

I'm pretty curious about the claims Proof has with these new PXT barrels. Many of us here have shot 28 Nosler barrels out. It would be a good test comparison. I purchased a 22" Proof PXT barrel and Alex will chamber in 28 Nosler. I will shoot N570 and 195's. Should be up and running in 1-2 weeks. I'll post findings for those wear, accuracy, increased pressure ability here.
Thanks!😎🥃

Sheesh now thats a cool round! Do you have a photo of that! I'm sure the new proof barrel will have its work cut out on that one.
This is it , except mine is going to have the shoulder modified a little.

That's awesome!
Can't wait to see the Bartleins!
If may be a bit, here is what Frank Green said.
"Will see where it all goes. It'll take a bit but working on gathering data."

This is not the original post I was referring to but the same jest. This is a long way from a finished product. That said I don't know how long it will take, I am sure there is a lot to figure out, engineering, manufacturing/tooling, specialty equipment, not to mention patent infringements.

Me too
Interested to see the results
My 7MMI chews a barrel every 6-700 rounds.
195's @ 3300fps with 570 are torture on a barrel
Running proofs
Mine didn't even make it that long. I shot my lands out over .100 in 400 rounds. It would still shoot, just stupid slow and needed a ton of powder to maintain speed

Maybe these will be lapped/finished correctly unlike the last 2 Barts.
