Problem with new factory 7prc ammo

That really sucks. Wish hornady would take advice from there customers. I have a love hate relationship with them. They should just mail out replacement ammo to people. Or get the brass made to sale
I'll never say never, but a love/hate relationship will drive me to almost any length to not use their product unless they are the only thing out there that will work. And I will say that I refuse to buy hornady factory ammunition or reload their brass. If Hornady is the only option I will go another route. I learned that with a 7LRM.

I no longer own my 7prc. Not that I had issues with anything besides strange ring at bottom of case. The hornady brass wasn't that bad for me when I shot it.

I'm disappointed in the Hornady PRC line as a whole for reloaders. So far, we need our rifles custom reamed to take advantage of the calibers offered. And the brass sucks, or the good stuff is unavailable. For now, I'll stick with older, established cartridges. I just bought a 300 Win Mag with a 8" twist. With the right bullet selection, I'll be in the 300 PRC's range easily, with no fuss. Of course, I can't find magnum primers… But that's another can of worms. In the 7mm, I'll stick with my 7-08 and 280AI. If I want a 6.5, I'd go with the 6.5-284 Norma.

Now, if all I was going to shoot was factory stuff, maybe the PRC makes sense. But I will say that the factory stuff I've found for my new 300WM is very accurate.
Well I came to the same conclusion as you on the 300 PRC, and bought another 300 win mag. After my initial experience with 7 PRC, I am now waiting to get my rifle back after repairs from Ruger, wish I would have trusted my gut. I should have purchased the new weatherby action and bought a barrel in 7mm Weatherby with right twist rate I wanted and a light weight custom stock. Not real happy with the Hornady factory ammunition for this 7mm PRC caliber as I believe that caused my issue as some rounds definitely were hotter than others. I had never had an issue with Hornady ammo. I have shot many other calibers with Hornady ammunition, 6.5 creedmoor or .375 ruger, 300 win mag, etc and never had a problem. But will see maybe everything will work out, just not real happy right now. I have never had a problem with any of my Ruger firearms before either.

My son's 24 inch, Proof barreled, Tikka T-3X, in 7 PRC, is shooting Good so far with, 175 gr Factory, ELD-X's, with some group's into,.. the 4's and getting, 2,950 FPS, Ave Velocity
He really Likes his New, Zeiss Conquest, 4- 16X Scope ( and it Dials, Beautifully ! )
Total, All up,.. Weight,.. 8 .5 Pounds.
So,.. NO complaints from, him !

I honestly think people push the prc line more than what is intended. The 300 prc isn't much more than a 300 win mag maybe 50 feet or so I believe.

The 7 PRC is nothing more than, a "Modernized" with "ALL, the Bugs OUT" of,.. the 60 Year Old,.. 7 Rem Mag.
Better,.. shoulder Angle, Longer Neck, the BEST Twist for,.. 175 - 190 grain Bullets.
The 6.5 PRC,.. IS,.. a "Home Run",.. also !
Sadly Hornady's Brass ain't, the greatest !
But with, ADG and Peterson Brass, coming available, will surely HELP,.. ALL,.. the PRC's

I would say the benefit of PRC's is a "standardized cartridge" ( or at least supposedly ) which allows production of factory ammo.

Besides that… nothing more than other cartridges have been doing for years.

All of it is stupid expensive for hit or miss accuracy, and ESPECIALLY when QC is lacking.
Somebody on LRHF pulled a bunch of bullets and weighed the charges of 7PRC ammo, it was a long way from consistent. GRAINS in difference if I recall

I've seen to many times " match" factory ammo suck im talking 100fps difference and different primers in the same 20 round box, 6 Rem primers i assume by the color and the other 14 were I dont know just a chrome color

Nosler is just as bad as hornady but at least you get good brass.

I got my hands on 200 rounds of ADG brass, 300 rounds of Nosler 175gr Accubond LR's, 4 lbs. of RL26 and 1000 Federal 215m Gold Medal primers. After I got through refinancing my house and paid off my credit cards for all of these components, I started reloading for my new 7mmPRC custom rifle, that was finished last December, when ammo and components were not to be found.
When boxes of Hornaday 175gr and 180's started surfacing for almost $100 a box of 20 rounds, I refrained from purchasing them and still didn't buy any, until I finally found some 175gr Hornadays for $45.95 a box. Foolishly, I purchased 6 boxes. I also found the 175gr Accubond LR's for $104 per 100 rounds. Managed to find the RL26 and ADG brass and I was off to my reloading bench.
My reloads produced some of the tightest groups I've ever shot in the sub-half inch range with one group almost below a quarter inch at .2501. They were also the most expensive per round shells I've ever loaded.
I haven't shot any of the factory loaded Hornaday shells I purchased and probably won't. After a 93 day stay in the hospital recovering from 3 additional surgeries that hospital employees caused, by giving me the wrong medication. I had just had surgery to repair a torn quadricep tendon off of my kneecap when this happened. I also incurred a severe infection in my knee due to lack of care, after they operated to repair my perforated bowel that ruptured inside me, causing clinical death to me twice. Then they ignored my knee until it was severely infected and had to operate on my knee again to remove everything that they had put the tendon together with and clean out the infection. Then I had a PIC line installed and was given the highest level of antibiotics that there is for 22 days 24/7. Two more surgeries tied to the stomach surgery and I am right back where I was before I had the original surgery . The surgery injured my larnyx so bad that I am going to voice therapy so that I can talk again, I am going to physical therapy so that I can walk again, and if you are still reading my jabber you should know that I am cooped up alone everyday with no one to talk to. I am going to hold off until next spring to have another surgery on my knee to get it fixed correctly, most likely will be at a different hospital by a different doctor and hopefully, a positive outcome without any complications. If I work hard enough after surgery to heal and get back physically strong enough, I will be hunting elk and deer on my farm next fall. The Hornaday 175gr loaded rounds will still be in my ammo vault!

Oh my goodness your a lucky fella.
I hope you recover fully and get back to the range.
Really sucks you have to have another surgery on your knee I'd be a little scared to have that after what happened the first time 😬
Good luck buddy
