I have a nice Savage 99 C (detachable magazine) lever gun in .308.
It's a great eastern woodlands deer rifle and I've killed deer in Pennsylvania with it.
But now I live in Nevada and have been thinking of re-barreling the rifle with a new custom 5 R octagon barrel and custom Wienig laminated stock.
Since I already have a Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor I'm thinking of getting the Savage 99 re-barreled in that caliber for flatter shooting with equally good terminal ballistics with heavy bullets.
The 6.5 Creedmoor can use the .308 magazine with no problems and the two cartridges case heads are identical so there is no need to change the bolt in any way.
Whaddya think?
