Put together a nice lightweight hunting rig today

Found a 700 mountain rifle LSS in 260. (Mint except the melting buttpad)
Threw some talley rings and a older 3-9 Zeiss conquest that I had laying around on it

Should be super pleasant to carry.
Now to find time to load some ammo and actually shoot it

Man I'm doing this all wrong, my mountain rifle is 21 pounds but used to shoot from one mountain to the next. Just kidding...kinda

Nice rifle man!

That is a good mountain rifle.

But a PERFECT mountain rifle, in my opinion, would be something like:
Lone Peak TI action
24" Proof Sendero Light w. brake
Manners EH-1/EH-2
March F1 3-24×52 FML-1 or Tangent Theta TT315M
Chambered in something like a .280AI, 7 SAUM, 6.5 SS, etc.
Finish about 8lbs.
Light enough to carry comfortably all day, but still has enough mass to help with the long shots that a mountain rifle.might need to make. In a cartridge with just a bit more horsepower for longer range elk/mule deer.

Nice rig. Will be very handy. I have found over the years that I just can't shoot a lite weight rig. I just cant. For few years I carried a 18 lb GA precision rifle. And in a eberlestock didn't really bother me. I have what I consider perfect for me now. Defiance deviant 7RM with proof Sendero lite, manners EH1. My perfect gun and balances very nicely. 10.2 lbs scoped with atlas full mag and a silencer.

I am with Remmy700.

I have my "mountain rifle" too. Built by AxisWorks.
R700 LA BDL trued
Fluted bolt w. carbon fiber bolt knob & alloy bolt shroud
Manners EH-1
26" 1:9" Proof Sendero Light w Hawkins brake
.280AI pushing 168 HVLD @ 2940 right now shooting in the .1-.2s (starting load development trying the 175 Berger Elite Hunter)
Premier Heritage Light Tactical 3-15×50
8lbs 15oz scoped

This is pretty comical as I am building almost the exact same thing. Defiance deviant hunter action, proof SENDERO carbon barrel, triggertech trigger and manners eh-1 with mini chassis with leupold vx-6HD 3-18 in 7mm Blaser Magnum.

It was more a metaphor, something about picking up a short barreled, wood stock, lightweight rifle just feels nice.
I have others as well. Nothing carbon barreled though. I'm waiting on one as we speak

If I currently had 1 go to it would be this.

300win
Worked over remington action, bartlein #3, timney with a McMillan gamescout
