We recently moved to western Wy and I'm so excited because my wife has been totally embracing the outdoors with me. We are from back east where day hikes and day hunts are totally different. I'd like to hear some suggestions for a pack for my wife to not only day hike with but also to hunt and carry meat with. I personally run a kifaru duplex with an exo bag for hunting. I'm not sure she would benefit from a setup like this thou I could be wrong. I'm thinking about looking for a used kuiu frame and going from there but I dont alway think frame packs are warranted. I rarely used my kifaru unless I'm backpack camping or hunting because I feel it's just to overkill. What are you alls thoughts?? Thank you

I went with a Backpacking brand (Deuter) as opposed to a Kifaru like I run. Cheaper, and it’s quite a bit lighter and specially made for a woman. If she ever starts hunting with me I will look into a more hunting oriented pack.

EXO..... 1800, 2000, 3500, they compress down easily & haul game meat comfortably.
add a larger bag later for camping as needed.

I like your idea of the Kuiu frame. Lot of various pack options to throw in there. I can pack light and hunt quite a while out of an ultra 3000. The other cool thing would be if the Kuiu truck comes near you and your wife could be fit and try the various packs?

I got my daughter a Kuiu 1850 last year and it was perfect for her, super light yet capable. I put the Kuiu rifle slung on the side and she can pull her rifle easily and everything carries excellent for her.

I have been using the kuiu icon pro 3200 for the last several years and do like the pack. Lite, carries meat quite well, can haul enough gear for 2 or 3 nights. Was also going to mention that mystery ranch does make packs that are for women or at least that's the way I understand them. The printler looks pretty good. One thing to consider, a good quality pack does make a big difference. And you want this to be the best experience as possible, so she continues to want to go and be a part of this outdoor experience. Having your spouse wanting to participate makes life considerably more pleasant. Good luck to both of you. And be safe.

Yeah, that would be a great choice. You used to be able to run it with or without the frame too, probably still can.

She runs a frame so she can pack elk meat and the rifle holder is hung on it so it make a better platform with the frame. She ran a Eberlystock gunrunner but she shoulder pack anything with it other than a rifle and it was abusively heavy compared to the Kuiu. The Kuiu frame add so little weight for the versatility it brings!

Yeah, that’s a solid platform. You’re making me think about getting one for my wife now, lol.

I'm a big fan of Kuiu products, most of my hunting clothing is Kuiu. I would consider the Pro frame and whatever size pack you want put on it, cool thing is that when you get the frame correctly fitted to her, their packs interchange so buying a new pack for various applications is a lot less expensive. I would also call them to help make a decision on frame size and fitting. Their Pro series frames and packs are built better with slightly stronger materials. The other brands mentioned are great packs also, I like Mystery Ranch but they're very expensive in comparison to frame / pack system such as Kuiu.

Agree, you can mix and match too, I prefer the pro suspension but I like the ultra bags. Easy to customize.

Stone Glacier (my favorite) or Mystery Ranch would be my pick(s)...not a fan of KUIU as a company, brand, or degree of workmanship. They use subpar and inferior material. But...they DID just release “Valo” Camo 😂

P.S., don’t waste your time or effort replying to my comment(s) trying to defend your sacred KUIU...
