So, how far back does the quality of alpha glass cross current mid-level glass? I know that companies are constantly improving sourcing of glass, grinding, and coating, and that the improvements are often minute and subjective, and difficult quantify. Would the glass in a current $1000-1500 ( my arbitrary values) scope now be equivalent to top tier scope (Zeiss, Swaro, TT, Heinsoldt, etc...) from 20 years ago? 30yrs ago? 10yrs ago? Only asking about glass, not any other characteristic or quality of a scope. This discussion could be carried to binos as well.
