stepped into a remington 7mm RUM. sendora stainless. looking to shoot long range and do i stay with 7mm or upgrade to 300. was looking at the 180g berger for 7mm haven't got to shoot yet but gathering parts, cha ching on the wallet. thinking 1000 plus on yardage. new to this sport and really like the tech stuff. Need to get out and start shooting and making it happen soon.:)

thanks! learning the 7mm is good but barrel life is in question. But if i let it cool and clean as needed/reccomended things are good. will be shooting this gun at 700yrds plus. leave the 30.06 winchester for the closer stuff, good gun! Reaching out to longer ranges I think the 7mm RUM will do just fine. some people kinda touchy on this caliber. these guns are like hot rods, faster you get more maintenance required. i understand this mentality.

ok, here is what I do
do not shoot the barrel hot
use ball powder if possible
clean every 20-25 rounds
I have no problems after approx. 500 rounds downrange from my 7mm AM
RR
