I decided to buy a Henry Case Colored large frame in 45/70 with the Octagon Barrel. I did not like the thought of putting a scope on it as would take away from its classic looks, so I put a Skinner case colored express sight on it. Was only able to find some H335 CCI large rifle primers and Hornady 300 XTO HP. I looked at Hodgdens load data and there was no way 68 grains of H335 was going in it. So I started at 60 grains and worked up to 64 grains to get an idea of where to go with the data I got. I was really surprised to see how great H335 worked in it with the 300 HP. Now that was with my 78 year old eyes and was shooting at 100 yds. Best 3 shot group was 1.25, 2 touching and #3 1" to the right. will blame that on eye sight, Velocity was 2135 ,with a SD of 2.5,the worst spread was 4.75 fps and all shots were under 2 " and at 100 yds. It did breath Fire though but what ever I would shoot will never see it. Have some Berry 350 plated ordered so can not wait to see what it might do with them. The Quality is second to none and I really, really like the firearm. Henry Made a very superb classic that delivers ,I ordered a .70 Aperture from Skinner and that might tighten the groups more. If not......................then who cares it is a beautiful piece of workmanship and at a affordable price! Pete
