I don't have a 30" barrel, but out of my 26" I shoot 44gr IMR 4350 with an 87gr V-MAX for varmints out to 700yds. For deer I shoot 42gr of IMR 4350 with a 100gr Sierra SPBT. Haven't done much shooting with the 100s but know the 87s are super accurate. I plan to try 105gr A-MAXs but as of yet haven't, would probably shoot 41.5gr IMR 4350 with them though.

I've used imr 7828 and h-1000 also!

I have retumbo, win760, imr4831, imr 4350, rl22, rl19, rl25, rl17 and a powder I never tried yet 4068 I believe.

I will load 3 rounds each on different powder and coal. Its a new barrel machined to lapua brass amax 105gr at coal 2.800 chamber. Dont want to burn barrel in finding loads

My setup is a Brouhton Barrel 1-8 twist.

My Load is:

243 Lapua brass
federal match primer 210m
Hodgdon 4831sc 40.5 or 40.6 gr.
Sierra 107 MK

Dumb question,

What does sc stand for in 4831 powder, and what's the difference

It stands for short cut, basically shorter sticks with the same burn rate but more of it can be compacted into a case because of its shorter size.

BTW my reamer was a custom made by PT&G for 243 Lapua Case Dimensions. And it was smithed by retired gunsmith Mike Bryant. I still have the reamer.

I recommend this load. I see you have IMR4831. Maybe you can give it a try.

Good luck.

I use 44gns. RL22 behind Sierra 100gn, SP and rem 91/2 primers. Works very well on red deer.

Allan.

Well folks went ranging yesterday, sighted in at 100yds dead on.

Loaded 50 rds of 105gr amax lapua brass ( no other case will fit of course) 43.1gr Rl19 seated at 2.790 performed beyond belief. At 320yd at paper and gong with head wind roughly 10-15 mph, got 4 hole in one and 13 rounds clover leafing. Fu$$I*× load is outter of this world..

Loaded 105gr amax H4831 40.5gr same seating. At 320yd gong with 1inch black circle all were in there. Of course I cleaned barrel every 3 shots.

I went fron having velocity of 2878 with 105gr 43.1 gr rl 19 to whopping 3254 fps.. out of my 30inch barrel with vais muzzle brake.. only issue is trigger is a bit heavy at 4lbs clean..

Wish jewell made one, I know I shouldn't complain with groups like that. I had 2 good friends shooting with me. We had a blast with gong
