necking down bras???

alright,

was told today by a fellow reloader that I could neck down 30-06 brass to make it 280ackley improved brass.. is this possible? would be nice to use lapua brass for me ackley!!!

I think it kind of depends a little. There is a spec difference between Nosler 280AI brass and taking a 280 Remington and fire-forming it in a 280AI chamber. Seems like I remember reading where Nosler's dimensions had a slightly shorter body on their case compared to what some 280AI dimensions have. But, since the .06 case is shorter in each instance, then yes. I was mistaken about it depending.

So, you can take 30.06 Lapua brass and blow it out to a 280AI body wise with the neck reduced.
