I was lucky enough to be in camp with Fletcher Day.(having scored the first day I spend a lot of time with him)
What an interesting guy,had great stories to tell,he was 75 that year.
Still had one 22 bullet in his head!

That's a crazy story about bullet in the head! I will agree if you got the change all the sheep are very attainable but I do think out of the 4 the hardest one to hunt is the stone just from all videos I've watched I don't have any personal experience yet. But fortunately that will change have a stone hunt booked this year and dall next year so hopefully will have some success,
I'm hunting stones with Rudy day and they don'tt pres scout but hunt same few areas where they know from past experience.

From what I read about the Bighorn hunts in Canada ,they are as much or more than a Stone hunt and can be brutal.
Rudy and his mother got half of Fletchers hunting area in the divorce(I was told)
You can check when you are there!

Bighorns in the lower 48, once you've acquired the tag, have the highest success rate. It's in the 90%+ range. They are not at all difficult to hunt. Alberta bighorns are different, even on a guided hunt your at best 50% success. Stone sheep hunts are in the 80-120k price range as well now and your success rate is even lower. The only saving grace for a bc stone hunt vs an Alberta bighorn is the outfitters tags in bc are awarded on a 5 year cycle, vs every year in Alberta. Fyi, Most dall sheep hunts are 60k plus now

I don't know much about hunting Bighorns in other states, BUT the reason success in Montana is because you can hunt them in the rut!
If I ever draw a tag I am going to hunt hard early because I will want to eat the aminal.
Bighorns in the rut are just like big Mule Deer, pretty rank!

Success in Montana is based on limited entry hunts. The zones you're legally eligible to hunt has a lot of animals. It's not the same as hunting bighorns in Canada

That is also true its not the same as Canada, but the biggest reason for the high success rate is the season runs from Sept.15th till the first of Dec.
 
The saying in BC is that your ram is born the year you start hunting sheep. Literally, I was on my 7th mountain hunt when I shot my first stone ram, and they're legal at 8 years old. I've had glass on some rams in the years before but passed them up as I couldn't be 100% sure they were legal. So it can be a bit of journey with a DIY sheep hunt. Happily, we can do this with a GOS tag here.

The other hunter on my hunt ,hunted 12 days and did not get a sheep.
The guides had to make sure a ram was legal.
Fletcher had 4 tags each year,if one of his hunters shot a ram that was not legal Fletcher lost a tag.
The only way to get it back was buy it at auction and they told me he might have to spend $35,000 to out bid other outfitters!
One of the problems I saw was both of us hunters had better optics than our guides!
I had great binoculars and a so-so spotting scope,the other hunter had a better spotter but just average binos!

That's not how it works in bc 🤦‍♂️

It works like it always has
There is only one outfitter permitted to guide non residents in any zone. If that outfitter is shooting short or young sheep. They take an allocation away on your next 5 year cycle. You'll get a big fine. There is no way to buy that tag back, and there is no auction. No other outfitter would have any structures in that zone to use, and they would not have any knowledge of the animals in that zone. Therefore it would be exceptionally unfair to any hunters who booked one of these hunts. Because your chance of success would be astronomically low.
