It's aluminum. I won't be using lapping compound. The diameter is 0.016" undersized to accommodate the thickness of 600 wet/dry paper. The knob is ebony, I'm sure that's the key to accurate scope alignmentvery nice! What material did you use? I made myself a 30mm bar a few years ago, from a piece of 304ss I had laying around
I'll be putting Talley lightweight scope mounts on a defiance anTi action. I expect the rings and action to be aligned pretty precisely but I want to be sure. Here's a previous lapping job I did for 30mm Talley mounts on an x-bolt.Why do you feel you need to lap these particular rings?
Love it , great job, want to head out to my shop and make 2 a 30mm and 34mm alignment tool with a center ring and the lapping bars also, do you have the O.D. of the lapping tool you made, is it just 34mm or 30mm? or smaller by a few thousands ?
