Has anyone installed a MB for a .243??

was wondering how much muzzle jump and recoil reduction is noticed assmuming your shooting a heavy bullet like a 100-105gr.

i even installed a muzzle brake on a single shot cooper i have chambered in 221 fireball. i can now watch the bullet as it becomes 1 with the little prarie dog gun)
love it :D but i shoot off of a bi-pod with it so my muzzle brake only has ports from 3/4 around it with no ports facing down so you dont end up blowing dust and dirt back up

I helped a friend get his daughter's 243 chronographed yesterday. The rifle had a brake with small holes equally spaced for the entire circumference. I did the shooting. The rifle has a very short stock and I was concerned about getting the scope in the eye. There was almost no recoil and the scope never got close. While I am not fond of brakes I now see why someone might use one with a smaller cartridge and a light rifle.

I use brakes. Not everything has them but even down to the 10/22 it does what it is supposed to do.

Yes, blast is an issue but even my loudest RUM is less annoying than a "standard" brake/flash hider on a modern sporting rifle.

I like radial brakes but ground blast sucks. You pays you money and you takes you choice.

I love the idea. Anything that helps you make a better shot and is comfortable is a go.

Brakes do that.

Noise, wear protection. Should do anyway.
Ground blast from prone when hunting... Oh well..

Just so you are prepared: applies to radial brakes only.

Ground blast when prone for testing or target.. Yuck...The RUM with its radial brake was put away for the day. I switched to the no brake rifles and have not gone prone with the RUMs since. All my braked rifles use radials.

I have radials on some and just got an SSG slab style on my 7 RUM and I'll never go back to a radial.

my 22/243 ACK has a radial, haven't had a chance to shoot it yet tho.

Oh my 22/243 ACK. That will move some..

Are you going to make a lead free load for it?

I'm not sure, it has an 8 twist for the 90gr bullets. Right now I don't have to shoot lead free, so once the statewide ban goes into effect in 2019 (hoping it gets overturned) then I'll sail that boat.

The condors are literally just up the road from me so I now always consider the lead free bullets for the rifle.

With an 8tw, no problems if/when you have to...
