Wouldn't you know it. Murphy is at it again. During my load development for my 300WM and all the frustrations I was having which turned out to be a bad scope from the factory I finally got two bullets that are shooting pretty darn good and just need a bit of tweaking.
So this evening I decided to start playing with the seating depth of the 210 gr Nosler RDFs that gave me a 0.6" group. So I loaded up 24 cases of the charges and put my seating die in the press. First case in, bullet on top and ran the ram up then down. Where the heck is the bullet? It was stuck in the seating plug!! I had to disassemble the die, reset my base line depth from my dummy round. Next case, same thing! That's it - I quit. I just ordered a micrometer adjustable die. Seems that seating plug doesn't like the long pointy bullets anymore!
Anyone have a solution for this problem?

I've had great luck with the Redding Micrometer dies…

And if Redding doesn't make a Micrometer die set…I just buy the Micrometer seater head.

No problems.

Either bed the seating plug with jb weld or lap it with a polishing compound.

Are you certain your seating plug isn't cracked, allowing it to expand and wedge the bullet? Otherwise, replace it with a vld stem or try bedding it with epoxy.

It sounds to me like your problem may (also) be insufficient neck tension. A seater stem/plug that is poorly matched to a bullet ojive shouldn't be able to pull the bullet out of the neck (IMO).

I took Jon's advice from the video and lapped the seating stem recess and no more issue. It only took about 15 mins

Whenever I buy dies I buy a VLD seating stem and have had no issue with Bergers over the years.

Sounds more like O'Reilly's Law, he said Murphy was an optimist. Cheers
