Notched the tag first morning out this year! With buying a house, moving and such during hunting season (I don't recommend) I wasn't sure how much elk hunting I was going to get in this fall. Well the time came for my week off and after looking at the sunrise time wrong, we ended up to our glassing spot an hour earlier than expected which worked to our favor. As we walked up, my horse was at full alert. Through the darkness I could just see a herd of elk crossing the trail a 100 yards in front of us. Once shooting light hit, I found this guy at 550 yards and let her eat. The 300 prc with a 215 berger made its mark. This is my first elk with a 215 Berger and I'm sold. He crumpled instantly and never moved, super impressed!
