Thumbs up to Marshall!!!!

From a few freebie bullets from Marshall to the following:

3 shots to check zero.

270 Allen Magnum
165 Matrix 277 projectiles.
98 grains of US-869
3.151" Base to Ogive using Sinclair "Nut"
3392/3404/3394 - ES=12 Only for 3 shots but much better than with any other 3 shots from any other bullet ever recorded through this rig.

Less than 0.50 MOA @ 100.

Will zero at 1000 then work back for drops.

How do they perform on game? I am really interested in this bullet for my 270 WSM. I need something that will perform at close range and out to 700 yards.

I can't speak to the 165's, but I know that the 150's in 6.5 have worked great for me so far. I know that Rhian speaks very highly of the 165's.......Rich

Thats awesome !

Dammit man, I know I said I would not do a 270 anything but with bullets like these, why not ? Marshal has convinced me to do a 270 LRH (270/300 Norma Imp 35 degree) case h20 cap at 110 gr will really sling the 165's faaast !

Marshals 160 gr 6.5mm bullets have been a joy to work with, I haven't shot them past 100 yards yet due to time and range limitations but at 3500 fps using 100 gr US869 I get 1/2" 3 shot groups out of a 26" 8.5 Twist Brux bbl, can't wait to see what the 8 twist 5R 30" Bartlein will do !
I just got the 150 and 142 gr Matrix bullets and trying to find the time to work some loads up, hoping to see 3600 fps with the 150's ...

Maybe we will see a 330 or 350 gr 375 cal. Matrix VLD next ........

please ?

Very cool!

I am close to doing a 270/300WM or 27Nosler on a M70crf and there is an 8 twist barrel available, any guess as to velocity with the 165??? 3200 with the 270/300WM? 8 twist too fast??

I have been shooting the 165Matrix a bit in my 270WSM's and 270Sherman.

How goes it! I would think 3200' would not be a problem. What elev. will you be shooting at? I think a 9 twist would be perfectly good..........regards/Rich

Under Rhian's advisement, I loaded up some 165 matrix in my 13 year olds 270 wsm. 71.5 grains of 33 turned this standard 270 wsm into a one shot, one kill hammer. My son Zayne crushed some WY goats this year with this combo. The bullet pencilled in, expended all its energy inside the animal and just had enough to get out the other side. Perfect performance.

He liked the matrix bullets so much, he had me buy a couple hundred 190's for his 7rum. I agree with Roy....2 thumbs up for the Matrix's bullets!!

What range was the kill shot? really interested in this bullet for my 270 WSM. I just want to see if they work well close as well as long. I shot my last bull elk at 535 with nosler partitions because I knew they would work well close as well as midrange (500ish) but they are not a good long range bullet with flat base and low BC's. Read too many horror stories of close shots with Berger VLD's at close range.

The bullet price is good but its $20.00 shipping for one box. Someone sell me one these!!!

They hammer! On deer close to far they auger a hole clean through them blowing a tennis ball size hole through and through, I've only seen one not exit a deer and it was a 50 yards shot my buddy made on a mule deer buck that was running with his 270 Win, hit it in the gutt but being a rutting mule deer that's like shooting into a cinder block, the bullet frag bounced of the far side and the buck piled up within 20 yards dead, we though he'd shot him in the lungs it was that fast. I've shot through whitetails heavy quartering and not caught them with the WSM.

Elk inside 500 yards your likely not to get an exit but the chest cavity will be seriously blown with frag exiting the chest cavity, at 900+ they will shoot through the lungs and create a perfect wound channel with an exit and they will shoot through the front shoulder and exit at that range. One bull at just under 900 you could see the ripple of the bullet impact down his entire side like you hit him with a cannon, very impressive! I have ZERO issue putting one on elk at 1100 with my WSM!

I'm doing well, I was asking about the 8 twist because it is available and the right taper. I am still up in the air about caliber but one of the two, elevation here is 1650ft but I usually hunt around 7000ft.

I used a 165 matrix in my 270WSM to put down a wounded elk in a cornfield....shooting through standing corn 30-40 yards. The only thing visible was his antlers and a lot of thick corn, I guessed at where his body was and got the job done. The matrix at that range and having gone through an unknown amount of obstacles managed to reach the spinal cord on the bull.
