Has anyone been behind one of these yet?

I am considering the D15V42FDIMLX version for a lighterweight, short scope.
I had a March F 3-24x52 and it was good, but not WOW.
I have a March FX 4.5-28x52HMWA, and it is WOW. But the High Master glass is definitely a step up from the standard March glass.

If the glass is the same as the older March F, I am not sure if I want to pay $3k for one to save 3-4 oz over a couple other options I can get for less $.

I tried one of these. The scope is so short that you need a continuous rail and you have to mount it higher than you would expect because the bell starts hitting on the rail. The one i tried was more geared towards competition AR style rifles though.

DVOR often has them for around $1800 keep an eye out weekly.

They have the 1.5-15x42 Dual Focal on there for $1,800??? I'd buy one at that price to try out if they pop-up.

I see a 2.5-25x42, non-illuminated, SFP for $1,800 on there today.

They often lists various March scopes for sale. Best to check on a weekly basis. Their prices can't be beat. There was a 4-40x High Master tactical for $3100-$3200 I was tempted to buy. A seller here is trying to sell one like it for $4100. There was also a 5-42x56 FX wide angle for $3200 as well but missed that one. They were all priced at more than $1000 off. Even the 10-50x52 I paid $2200 on sale previously and thought I got a great deal on was selling for even cheaper at $1900 last time I checked.

Other crazy deals I saw were Meopta S2 20-70x eyepiece for $225 and Kowa TSN 99 body for under $2000.

I have a1.5-15x42 MTR 5 Dual plane.

Probaly not going to be worth 3k for most. I need to put them side by side but glass seems the same as my March 3-24x53 FFP

The scope is G2G up to 10x in any conditions. But In sunlight it's very hard to focus the reticle at 12 & 15x. The image itself is clear but it's hard to get the recticle to focus. You have to adjust the eye piece just right but then the recticle focus is slightly off for 10x and below. In shade or evening conditions it focuses at 12&15x just fine. Guess it's the price to pay with a 10x zoom ratio.

I was hoping to replace this as my primary long range hunting scope but I may just end up getting a March 2-25x52 sfp.

I've put 400or 500 rds through the 1.5-15x42 on my 22arc bolt gun from 100-1300 yards and another 400 or 500 on my 9mm carbine from 25-200yards.

I notice at long rang in day light I just keep it on 10x and only turn it up to 15 if I need to spot hits on steel. Although in the evenings from 1000-1308yds I ran it at 15x and could see 22cal hits on my 1308yard plate.

Using the scope it has grown on me. I really like carrying it around the short and compact size are great on hunting rifle/carry rifle.
And I've found for hunting I much prefer sfp reticles and FFP for target shooting. For hunting where shots could be as close as 5 yards. I really like the mtr 5 reticle with a .5moa dot. I was worried it would be too big but it's not at all for hunting or shooting steel. It has been great around dark. Plus when you Illuminate the recticle, only the dot is red and has 6 lvl s of brightness.
So much better up close around dark for hunting than my 3-24x52 FFP the 1/8 moa dot is tiny at 3x in low light.
I will say the adjustment dial for the illumination brightness is another a knob inside the parallel knob so when you try to adjust your brightness it turns you parralex also and throws you out of focus.

I do like this for a compact mid range scope and it does work for long range fine but it's not ideal. For the price in a scope around this range a NF NXS 2-10x42 or NX8 2.5-20x50 might make more sense depending on a guys individual needs.
Although sounds like you're looking for better glass than that.
