I've got a large stash of retumbo and h4350 on hand, and a few pounds of h1000. Is there any other powders I really need to try? I'm willing to give up a little velocity for accuracy and consistency. Most if my hunting is in Wyoming in oct. it could be 85deg or 25 and snowing. Thanks.

Maybe this will help.
From New Speer manual,

My buddy who I load for has a 338 RUM. N570 was all I could find first year. Shot well, under MOA with 300gr. Later found some Retumbo, which was the recommended powder by the guy he bought it from. Also shot well, under MOA.

N570 has reputation as throat burner, BUT who the hell will ever shoot out a 338 RUM? To be fair, its tolerable with a suppressor, but without OMG.

I find it hard to work up loads for him, since I am not on his trust and thus, I get the gun, but no suppressor. Even with 30 lbs of lead sled, it hurts after 40 rds. The dick-head that set up his suppressor trust is the guy I hate -- should have allowed additional users.

I've burned out two .338 RUM barrels, both under 2 years each. The key is to run them fast, run them hot, and run them often. 😂

OP, with the 270 grainers (and 285's) I tested (not a whole lot) I got best velocities with what .338 dude suggested (RL26 & RL33). However H1000 gave me the most consistent down range precision. I never tried N570. Ended up going with either the 300 grain Matchking or Berger and H1000, just hard to beat those combos for up close to way out yonder.

I to might say to try n568 it worked awsome n my 7 Rem Mag. High velocity and good accuracy. I abtually bought it for my 338 RUM and 300 Berger EOL.
