I am looking for some recommendations for powder for 30.06 hunting loads

We moved to AZ, this summer from the midwest, so I get to hang up the slug gun.
I have an early Rem 700 BDL, and an Browning Bar (older too but not as old) both are in excellent condition and very low round count through them.

I picked up some IMR 4064 back when powder choices were very limited earlier in the year. I want to test out at least one other powder.

The buddy, I bought the Rem from years ago said, it always shot best with heavier bullets. It has been more accurate then BAR. I really want to try and improve accuracy in BAR. I have a spine injury/nerve damage. Recoil can ruin my day very quickly now, sadly. I had limbsaver recoil pads put on both right before we moved.

I plan on testing out 165's and 180 grain bullets with deer, javelina bear and elk being the game I intend to hunt.

I have the Nosler Accubond's in 180 grain on hand for my testing. The rest I am open to some recommendations as well. Without breaking the bank. A LGS was asking $50.00 a box for some of other Nosler 308 bullets in 165/180. Needless to say, I passed. I have only been rifle hunting a few times. All, my experience is with a slug gun

Thanks

Frank is right that 4350 will work well in the '06, but rl19, rl22, and the 4831's will also be top choices for heavier bullets in the '06. It's actually surprising how little difference you may have on some loadings (particularly in 180 and 190 grain) between the '06 and the 30 mags.; it's really only 200 fps or so on many.

I use Imr 4064 for 165gr bullets and the imr and H 4350 for up to 200gr bullets Montanamarine has some experience with reloader 17 and some heavier bullets. I have found IMR 4350 to be very versitile, accurate and forgiving in 30-06...

For black bear and lesser game 150 gr bullets with 51.2 grs IMR4064 goes together like apple pie and ice cream. One of the 4350s with 165 gr and heaver bullets has worked best for me. Make sure that you free float the barrel on that Rem 700 and have the trigger adjusted down between 2 1/2 to 3 lbs and it would help to have the action glass bedded and it should shoot really well. Those 180 accubonds should work really well on an elk if you do your part and put it where it needs to go.

56.5 IMR 4350 178 Amax 250yrds. Don't mind the AR and AK spray lol.

4350 for me too. With 180 Nosler AB my remington 700 shot .75" at 300 for a zero. This is with 54 grains. At 56 it was 1.5". 54 was plenty for 400 and less shots on smaller game so that is my pet load. 56 would be the choice for LR or bigger animals.

Have a bunch of 215gr Bergers for the 300 and the other day worked up a load in the 06 out of curiosity and the results made me smile.

50.8gr's of Reloader 17 puts the 215gr Berger out the barrel at 2604fps (proved) and moves the 06's ethical take distance to 800 yards using QuickLoads numbers. I used the stock COAL of 3.340 so to fit the magazine and the load shoots 1 MOA at 460 yards and opens a little at 800 yards. Could be me too.

Reloader 17 works well with the 190gr Bergers as well.
