Loads for 7mm-08 and 140 Berger VLDs

I've done quite a bit of 7/08 loading with 140 gr bullets. I have had 3 different 7/08's still have 2. Powders that worked good in all 3 with the 140 gr class bullets were WW760--H100V--StaBall 6.5 and H 380. Accuracy was good and velocity, depending on the rifle, was between 2950 and 3000 ft/sec JME

What was your starting point on staball?

I started at 45 grs and worked up to 50 using the 145 gr Speer SBT. Velocity was 3012 ft/sec from my 24" barrel Kimber. One thing about StaBall 6.5 , in my experience, is that it spikes real fast. One grain can make a big difference.

@Roperboy87 In the lower loads yes but as pressure built, say from 48 grs up, it was clean. Although I've gotten the best accuracy with WW760 if I were to choose one powder of those I listed taking velocity and accuracy into account it would be H-100V. Good powder and no surprises when using it. JMO

What kind of velocity did you get with H-100V. Fixing to start on a 7-08 for my grandson. I have it and staball.

@dok7mm I used it with the 145 Speer SBT ( good bullet ) worked up to a charge of 49 grs. I got .75 MOA accuracy with a velocity 2992 ft/sec. I also tried this load with the 145 Speer GS and got 2912 ft/sec. Accuracy was also .75 MOA.
