loads for 308 rem 700 police

I'm looking for some help on some loads for my 308. I have lapua brass. And I just got the rifle broke in. I've tried some varget and 175 smks but groups are not raeally to my liking. Anyone have any other load ideas? Thanks

something you might want to try, 155's. Your twist rate on that rifle is 1/12. My ltr can stabilize 168's never tried the 175's, but I'm thinking they might be a little heavy for the twist. Try the 155grn palma sierra matchkings they have a bc. of .500 , or hornady 155 amax's for cheap target fodder.

Have the best luck with varget powder most and to include myself
some where between 43gr to 45 gr of Varget win cases, 210M if
you can get them.
A friend who shoots a great deal shoots RL-15 at 43.7 in Lapua brass
210M and the 175gr smk......This is EDGE on snipershide......

My go to load for 308 is
44 gr VARGET
175 SMK
210 M Primer
Win Brass
OAL 2.800

The 12 twist will handle anything up to the 200 grain pills just fine. A few loads that will be tough to beat are:

175 SMK atop 43.9 N540 with Br2 primers.

178 AMAX atop 45.0 VARGET

43.0 to 44.0 RL15 under the 190 SMK

46.0 N540 under the 168 SMK or the 168 AMAX.

MAKE SURE YOUR SCOPE IS MOUNTED STRESS FREE!!!!!!!

My 308 load of choice is as folllows.

Lapua brass
168 Nosler Custom Comp bullet
43.5 IMR-4064
BR-2 primer
2.850 OAL

This load works wonders in all 4 of my tactical rifles. All of them have 1-12 twist rifles. Hope this helps.
