Ok so finally found some of the new ELD-X bullets for 270 at Midway however could not find any load data for this bullet. These are 145gr and will be shooting from 270wsm. I emailed Hornady this morning but thought I would also ask here.

Thanks.

Do you have a powder preference?
Powders in stock?
Do you know your COAL?
Do you have the bullets?
If so can you give some measurements?
Length
Length of boat tail
Small diameter of boat tail

If It Were Me, I'd start close to the Hornady 150 soft point data.

I would highly recommend RL26 and even Retumbo. I have had great results in my 270wsm with 150 vld , it should be worth a shot with 145 gr bullets.

You will be okay using 150 grain data. As always, use starting loads and work up. I've had great luck with Retumbo in my 270 WSM shooting 150 grain bullets. I've also seen good results with MagPro in a different rifle shooting 140s and 150s. I have read reports of good accuracy with H1000 and H4831SC with 140-150 grain bullets although I haven't tested these powders myself. If you're chasing high velocity I'd recommend MagPro. There seems to be an accuracy node with this powder at 3100-3200 fps. My current rifle can't quite reach that with the bullets I'm shooting and I wasn't able to get good accuracy. I tried Retumbo and it shot fantastic so I didn't test anything beyond that.

Thanks for the input guys. Bullets come in today. I've been using Berger VLD's and Barnes pills in my wsm with H4831SC. I may give MagPro a try. Will chime back in when I get some results.

MagPro is a good powder...however it is hard to ignite...use a good magnum primer...Hang fires are a good way to practice your trigger/rifle discipline...

Here's data from the Hornady 10th edition book
270 WSM
COL: 2.785"
IMR 4350 53.4 gr upto 58.6 gr (2800 fps to 3000 fps)
Alliant RL-19 53.9 gr upto 61.7 gr (2800 fps to 3100 fps)
H4831 55.8 gr upto 63.3 gr (2800 fps to 3100 fps)
VIHT N-165 60.4 gr upto 66.6 gr (2800 fps to 3100 fps)

I have tested the 270 145 Eldx I've had good results with 56.5 Hodge superperformens it seems to group well and the velocity 3070

Anyone else experimented with 270 ELD-X's? I've got a 1:9 270 being built as we speak. Looking forward to spinning some 150 and 170 Bergers. Have heard some good but mostly bad things about the 145 gr .277 ELD-X's.

I've loaded some with 57 grains of superperformence and got 3014 fps average but seemed to fast didn't group well so I want to try some RL 22 with 56.5 grain should be 2950 and 56 grains of superperformens and should be 2960 or close.
