26 in. Remington 1:12 twist. I have access to IMR 4064, CFE 223, Varget, Vihn 140. COAL is not an issue as I will chamber one at a time and not us the magazine. Thanks for the info.

True, but if he has the altitude advantage where the OP lives or hunts, he'll be OK like Montana Marine ...

I am shooting a 208 Amax in my .308. I have a Remington LTR, 1/12 twist, 20" barrel. I tried several powders and got 2200fps. I then tried Reloader 17 and got 2400fps with awesome accuracy. Good luck, I think the heavy bullet in the .308 is they way to go.

Altitude...you are right Feenix. Looks like he is shooting at 4000 ft minimum.

Aye Sir! I'm ~an hour north of where he lives @ ~3300' but hunt 5-7500'+. Cheers!
