Lapping Compound?

Fellas,

Could I ask you about lapping compounds for lapping scope rings? Which brand, grit etc... do you recommend. A prior search didn't turn up much. Thanks in advance!

Honestly you can go get valve lapping compound at napa that works great. I comes in water based and oil based. I use the water base on everything I lap which isn't just gun stuff.

Linksmechanic , just curious : why do you prefer the water based compound ? Is it a question of clean-up prior to bluing the inside of Steel Rings ?

Thanks for the info. I got a jar of the water mix yesterday at napa, used it this morning and it worked great. Thanks again for the help!!!
