Introducing the Absolute Hammer

My understansing after talking to Steve a bit is that faster powders are better for the 7mm-08. Like a Varget or IMR-4064. I only have IMR-4064 and provably won't get Varget any time soon. Local shops don't have many powder options available at this moment either.

RL17 I have in stock and might work, it pushes 140gr bullets past 2,900 fps

Thoughts anyone?

I'd Give it a try

If you notice, people with larger capacity cases such as 280 AI are needing to go to a faster powder such as H4350 or RL16 to get the higher velocities. The 6.5 creedmoor normally gets fed H4350 or RL16 for regular cup and core bullets of equal weight so you are going to have to try powders like Varget or IMR 8208XBR to see if the velocity is there in the creedmoor.
I know Steve suggested Varget in the Creed with the 124 HH when I first started loading them last year. I couldn't find Varget anywhere and ended up with RL16. That being said, I don't think you can get into any trouble with Varget, but I think 8208XBR may be perfect

Thanks guys, appreciate the help. Stay safe
after posting the 2000mr earlier I realized I never tried it in my 7mm08AI so I ran a pressure and velocity test on it with the 140AH at 50gr I hit light pressure at 3139 fps backed off to 49 and shot 1 group approx. 1/2 MOA at 150 I think a little tinkering and it will be there 49 gr ran 3057 when I get it I will post it up

While I'm waiting on my Lee neck crimper I fiddled with one more powder. 6.5-06AI, 26" Brux, 1:8, CCI 250s. 123 AH:
61.0 = 3452
62.0 = 3519, lite ejector and lite bolt lift
62.5 = too hot.
Close enough to what I already got with Superformance. Looks like 3500 is about all you can get with this case capacity, unless the neck crimper adds some magic!

I just got the Lee dies and will be testing them this weekend to see if they provide any benefit to my StaBall loads. Also got some 109s to test as well and some 178's to test in the .300 WM.

What powder where you using for the latest test? I tried superformance in my PRC with the 123's and it seems like I have a node at 61.2 to 61.5 based on the velocity though I will confirm this weekend.
