I recently picked up a box of 162gr hornady eld x's in 7mm. I pulled the seating stem out of my rcbs due to see how they fit and the bullet tip doesn't bottom out in the stem but the stem makes contact with the ogive only about 1/16" below where the plastic tip meets the jacket. Do you think this will cause issues?

I noticed the same thing when reloading for my 7 saum. As long as the bullet isn't being pressed from the tip of the bullet I don't think it's an issue. All you want is for the bullet seating die to apply pressure at some point on the ogive. I really don't think it matters where at on the ogive, just as long as it's not the tip of the bullet. I measured 50 rounds with a bullet comparator when reloading last weekend, and the coal stayed very very consistent (+-.0005), from the first to last round.
