Getting your tonsils out as an adult, holy ****. Ended up back in the OR before I was extubated because I was bleeding like a champ. Now my throat is black a hurts.

An old Bill Cosby joke: Before I went in to have my tonsils removed they told me that after I could have all the ice cream I wanted. What they didn't tell me was I wasn't going to want any.

Ouch! I hope the pain settles down soon.

I did at 26 years old, thought I'd die for a while... man it hurts! Good luck, With that said; later on, it was worth it. Cheers.

Should have had mine out at 6

Finally got them out at 17.

I was a lean machine athletic freak.... and lost 20 pounds in two weeks.

Glad it was done but wow did it suck.

For anyone who has kids and if you are questioning if your kid needs them out.... get it done before 10 years old

Yea, I had mine out as an adult as well. It sucked big time. boiled eggs were my go to as far as getting something to eat.

I had mine out as an adult, and wisdom teeth a few weeks later. Not fun.

Got mine out at around 5-6 years old and was in the hospital for three days. They put me to sleep with Colorform on a strainer with a rag covering it. They would tell you to count backwards from 10 to 1. - goes to say how long ago that was. And yes lots of Ice Cream!

Had mine removed when I was three. The only thing I remember is the chloroform on a rag over my face and the room spinning.

My experience also. The Doc did it in his office. After I woke up, we went home. I remember the ice cream more than the tonsillectomy. In the early 50's.

One of my grandsons really needs his tonsils out but my son-in-law won't get it done. My grandson is 9.

Same here, CST. The shocker was that they actually grew back in their entirety and I had to do it again at age 12!

My sister had a tonsillectomy when she was in high school. She did not have much choice; they found cancerous tissue (malignancy) in both of her tonsils.

Wife had hers out as an adult, flat out leveled her for weeks. Probably took another couple months for her to gain back to her normal weight. Solved the issue, but it looked miserable.

Have had some brutal surgeries and injuries over the years, I'd rather break my femur again than have my tonsils out as an adult...
