Help with a Zeiss scope

Hi all
I am new to this site and new to long range hunting(600m+) and I recently acquired a TRG 42 338Lap with a Zeiss Diavari FL 6-24x56 with millDot reticle, the turrets are specced with metric values ie. 1cm/100m adjustments!
And the "calibrated" magnification is @x12 for the millDot calculations and range estimates!
Now my question is as follows:
On a Ios app called "Bullet Drop" it gives the 338 for a drop @1000m as 7,7mills or 303.4"

Now should I set my scope to 12power and hold over 8mills at 1000m or what will the math equation be to calculate your turret adjustment for bullet drop?

1cm = .1 mil so you can dial 7.7 mils or 77cm

YES as stated and your hold overs on your mildot is same as your dial up,as you said roughly 8 mil.But on the longer shots you want it exact, for hold.So I would dial up.Say a 400 might be 1.2 mil pretty easy hold over and target is much closer
