Hey guys, just got back from the range. I found a couple decent loads, but not what I was looking for. About 2" groups at 200 yards for 3 shots. I was wanting at least 1.5". But with a factory rifle, no bedding, or free floated what more could I ask for?? At least I had a good place to start to see promise. I loaded up 56, 56.5, and 57g h-4831sc. They were giving 2 shots 1/2", but threw the 3rd shot 1 1/2" every time. Good thing is, the higher I went, (.5G) the groups got a teeny bit better. Velocity was 2800-2850fps. So I decided to try 57.5g and 58g today. 57.5g gave me a 5 shot group of 1.75" and 3 were touching. 58g was a 3" group for 3 shots. So, this leads me to think my load for this rifle and 150g sgk's is as follows. 57.5g h-4831sc, Fed 215 mag primer, w-w case, OAL= 3.410". Velocity over my crony read 2922, 2916, 2925, 2917, 2927. Looks like a pretty consistent load to me!! I also started with 57.5g H1000 and went to 60.5g. My velocities were low 2800's with 57.5-58.5g, and high 2800's for 59.5g, and right at 2900fps for 60.5g h1000. Funny thing is, h1000 proved to be a lot more consistent velocity wise, never going over 15fps for max deviation, but the groups just werent as good as h4831sc. I used same 215 primers and w-w cases, and same OAL for these loads. I noticed it was shooting better with 1g more powder, so that led me to load up 59.5g and 60.5g. No pressure signs were available that I could see. 60.5g was max of 15fps velocity spread, but was a little bigger group then 4831sc. The 2 are pretty similar for velocity, only about 25fps diference, in favor of h4831sc, but the accuracy of h4831sc beats h1000. So I think I'll load a couple boxes of that 57.5g h4831, then work up a good drop chart out to 800 yards, and start wacking my gong at 800 with it, and practice with the rifle on coyotes. Then deer season hits, I"ll be ready for a shot out to 800 yards hopefully. If conditions are right. That doesn't mean I'll pass up a 200-300 yard shot though, but I would like to shoot a deer at 700-800 this year. Thanks for all your guys load data, it gave me a place to start, and was pretty close to what my rifle liked as well!
