I have a 6.5x284 and I want to go to a 6.5 Creedmorr. The barrel is good. Can it be re chambered? I have it on a long action too, is that a problem? The barrel is 26" now.

I'm no pro gunsmith but I did build a 6.5 creedmoor on a long action and the only issue I had was feeding from mag box. I had a adl setup and was going to try and fit a short mag box in it to solve problem. It worked half the time. the problem was when it pops up out of the feed lips there was not enough into chamber on front so if I went slow it would come out completely and if to fast it could go a little sideways and jam. Was a range gun for me so I just feed it one at a time. I have since took apart to build something else. As far as 6.5-284 to creed I believe you will have to cut back of barrel shorter and rethread to fix long to short action. Depends on barrel size if you can even do. if it tapers you can't thread if straight then sure I suppose. Probably cheaper and safer to get a new barrel I would think.

If you have a very long shank it's possible but probably not worth it, especially on a long action.

Why would you want to change from a badass 6.5-284 to a little baby Creed?

I hear you, I have a 22-250 that I can convert to creed, better idea i guess. Thanks everyone

You didn't say what kind of action you have. I have a Savage 110 (long action, formerly a 7mm RM) that I swapped to 6.5x47. Using the same blind box mag with no feed issues.

FWIW
