1911 Help

I realize that this site is more geared towards rifles but I am hoping someone can offer some insight.
I have a Springfield 1911 with the ILS MSH. I purchased a standard, flat MSH and associated internals to replace the ILS. When installed and the hammer cocked the hammer strut is not compressing the hammer spring enough to insert the take down pin.
Any ideas on how to solve this?
