I apologize as this does not relate to long range hunting, but I figured some good advice could still be found. I am interesting in nitriding a 1911, and I think most 1911's there would not be an issue. My concern would be for a tightly toleranced one like a Les Baer or Ed Brown. Being that tolerances are so tight, and nitriding can cause metal to feel rough and make it so **** hard, would your 1911's action then feel rough? Would it ever break it properly? Should you wait to nitride it till after it's broke in? Just cycle it a thousand times without firing it, and then nitride it? Or just don't do it at all?
