I've had turkeys peck my feet, I've touched 3 deer bedded and 1 small black bear I tracked to what looked like his den. Wore wool and didn't make eye contact. I had a picture of my barrel 3" from another deer that spooked on the flash. The more gadgets you use the more you will need them. Practice sound woodsman skills and don't make eye contact and you can do lots of things
If you practice with birds at feeder or rabbits in the yard or pets in the house you will learn more than quick enough what you can and cannot do. Just the eye contact drill will help you

Best thing I ever found to get me close to game is a good saddle horse. Then if I want to reach out and touch them from there I use my 300WM.
