Hammer 139gr shock hammer vs Berger 140 elite hunter

Assuming your gun shoots both of these well, is there a wrong answer?
Many here report great success with both options.....try not to over think it.

Boom.........done deal shoot them both at 600 and see how they perk

I am currently loading Berger 140gr elite hunter for my PRC. I was considering using the Hammer 139gr Shock hammer. But the G1 and G7 are better in the Berger's at one half the cost of the Hammers (Cost differential is really not a consideration). My use is for cow elk out to 600yd. Maybe I should just buy some and load them up see which one my gun likes better. Would appreciate feedback from those of you who have loaded both.

I run 140s at 3125 with RL25 out of a 24".

I am waiting on my AG stock to complete my build. I have latter loaded Berger 140 eh over MagPro (only powder i could find). I will be shooting out of 26" tube. We will see if the new build likes them...would like load some over H1000 or RL25 or 26

I think if you want to look at 600y and in hunting with the 6.5 prc I would load the 124g Hammer Hunter. We are pushing these at between 3450 and 3500 fps. Out to 600y this is very effective and tough for anything else to run with.

I running 124 Hunter at over 3330 fps with RL23 in 6.5 PRC. I haven't tried a slower or faster powder yet. I use RL26 with 156 Berger with great results which my CDS dial is set for . I used a 124 Hammer on a buck in Ca. last year. Dropped him in his tracks. Only other animal I've shot with it was a whitetail doe here Oct. 2020. Like whitetails it ran but only about 25 yrs. Dead. I'm thinking of using a 181 Hammer on 300 RUM on an elk hunt in Az..My CDS dial is set for 215 Berger though but at 3380 fps I really want to Hammer one and not worry about hitting shoulder which I like to do. Using H1000 with 181 . Steve ?

I made mistake of taking 3 shots a a bigger buck at 598 yds. With CDS dial. It shot the same spot at 200 yds. with 124. Was down hill. Shot high. Stupid. Ca. copper. Had 156 Berger loads in tent labeled Wy...
I think I saw you were getting 3500 with 181. Don't remember post or caliber. Bout a week ago. Thanks for replying.

600y is getting far enough that if you are not taking into account your current atmospherics you can have trouble. Also diff bullets at are most definitely going to act diff at this range.

I looked at my load data. 94.0 grs. H1000. 5 shot Ave. Was 3432 with 181. 95.0 was pressured. It's a 300 RUM with 28 in. 5R Bartlien barrel. Little more fps than my factory 26 in. .

That is in line with as good as we can get. 8" twist with the 199's and n570 we can get 3400 fps. Simply amazing.

Mine is 1 in 10 twist. With 92.5 grs. N570 with Berger 215 I'm getting 5 shot Ave. 3198 fps. ADG case Fed 215 M primer. It only has about 160 rds. Down it. Made mistake of getting CDS dial made too soon. It's sped up a little but I thought Bartlien barrels were lapped . Not worried about it. Can set turret to 600 yds. And bang steel all day. The longer ranges up to 1200 are what I like to practice .
