Hey all! I just had to throw up a quick pic of the new and improved 300RUM. Just got it back with 28" of fluted Hart goodness hanging off the front of it capped with a Muscle brake. Tomorrow is range day number 1!

Nice stick there,Bubba! Is that stock a BC Medalist? I can't tell by the pic, but I know it is not a HS. How does the brake work, or haven't you fired it yet? I have some good load info if you are interested. If you do your part, it will certainly do it's. Nice job!

It's a R700, trued with a 28" Hart fluted Sendero contour with Jim's Muscle brake, parked in a BC Medalist varmint with the aluminum block then skim bedded to boot. I reworked the factory trigger to 2.5 lbs. and clean. Before the rebarrel/bedding I was getting 3/4MOA out of it until around 1600 rds. then 1MOA for about 400 more before I sent it to Hart. I've got a pretty good load going already with Retumbo and 208 Amax: 1/2MOA so far. First 5 shots out of the gun were .431 at 100 with a baseline load. The brake is great! Like shooting a loud .308. If this keeps going the way it's looking to, this is gonna be a hammer!

the district i live in that is.. ha ha that comment makes it sound like i am still in school.
anyway where do you typically shoot. my neighbor and i shoot behind my house on a pipeline that allows shots out to 1500 yds. we typically shoot 1k and under though.

I usually shoot at vandergrift sportsmans for 200 and under, then a buddys farm we can get to about 500, any longer and I have been shooting a couple spots up around tionesta near our camp. You aren't shooting on the power line that runs across 156 past spring church are ya? I've been eyeing that up for a close to home LR spot..

how i haven't run into you yet i have no idea. my camp is also in tionesta on little hickory rd.

no not that power line. a pipeline that goes from hancock rd off of rt286 to coal run.
i know the powerline you are talking about. i was just afraid of hitting lines so we shoot pipelines.
there are some **** nice places i need to scout for shooting permission in west lebenon. big fields and hill to hill stuff.

Well, first couple range ssessions show .313 and .473 with a measly 89.0 grains of retumbo behind a 208 amax. Ran it all the way up to 94 grains and it was way too hot there. Worst group out of it has been 1.116 with over pressure load. All else have been 3/4MOA or better. Going to try some seating depth tests next and load #1 should be ready for showtime! Next load workup will be same powder, different primer and 200gr. Nosler AB.

joejo, Our place is up above east hickory along 62 just shy of the warren county line...it's a small world we live in sometimes. Maybe one of these days we can get together a sling a few downrange. I've been eyeing up a few places closer to home but haven't committed to one yet.

BTW, the new Vortex that is going to live on top of this should be in this week....can't wait!

I'm taking a shot at the Vortex Viper HS 5-15 mil/mil that midway has the exclusive on. Looks like it should be decent glass, it's mil dot with 1/10th mil adjustments and zero stops...can't ask for much more and the price was right. I was going to go for the PST 6-24 mil/mil but figured I'd give this one a shot first and if it's all its cracked up to be then it'll be the same glass on my 280 Ackley build that's in the works.
