griz attack

Terrible thing to have happen……when calling, you may be most vulnerable to this type of thing? memtb
I would think any calling in bear country is ringing the dinner bell. Especially before the bears prepare for the long winter. I guess hunters calling need to be careful and have other eyes looking for prey or predators. Our game is not without risk.

Grizzlies are a critter worth special consideration when entering their domain. As the apex predator they fear little including man for some of them. If a fella could get a tree stand setup for calling from that may mitigate the dangerous encounters. They can climb but due to their weight and long claws are fairly slow climbing trees so you could get a few shots off with a hand cannon.

In my neck of woods I'm vigilant but not always thinking about predators but if this were griz country it would be a different story as it is in Alaska and some areas of the lower 48.

Pray he recovers fully.

I hunted in BC this year. The guides were resigned to the fact that it is a matter of time before one of them gets mauled by a Grizzly. Their government has effictively made it illegal for them to defend themselves with firearms. Most are more afraid of the government than getting mauled by a bear.
