shots max of 500 yards, mostly under 150. mostly for cyotes and deer. fixed 4x or variable 1-4x? and why? thanx for all input.
I've got 3 of these and I've really liked them..,picked up the Leupold 30mm 1-4x European eye relief is less critical, and it has a permanent home on my.375.The adjustable models are certainly handy, if its thick you will want to dial back. The Leupy 1.5x5 is one of my favorite scopes and no problem poking coyotes at 400.

That would a tough shot with any scope. The rifle probably has 10" groups at that range - with no wind. Even 5 mph wind gusts will spread your groups out to 2-3 ft. The round may be subsonic too. Whichever scope you get, make sure it has enough elevation adjustment. The drop from a 100 yd zero is 20-25 moa, so you'll need at least 50 moa of adjustment range (60 moa is more likely), depending on how your rifle is built.
