I shot this buck earlier this season at 595 yards with my latest rifle build. He's not very big but he's legal and the conditions were near perfect, so I had to try him! Them horns don't even make good soup anyway! It was a first round hit right behind the shoulder resulting in a clean one shot kill. The rifle used is a M700 action with a Shilen 1-8 twist ratchet rifled #6 contour 22" barrel chambered in 243 win. sitting in a bedded B&C M40 medalist stock and topped with a Vortex Viper HS 4x16x44LR scope. The load is 48 grains of RL22 pushing a Hornady 100gr BTSP at 3110fps. The best part is that my Dad was spotting for me thru my bino's and got to watch the whole thing .
