This is a pic of my first dedicated "LONGRANGE" rifle. I just put it together after receiving the stock from a member on this sight today. It's a Remington 700 5R in 300WM with a Timney trigger set at 2.5 lbs, Gretan (light) firing pin, B&C Medalist tactical/varmint stock, EGW 20moa base with Weaver (HIGH) tactical 6 hole rings, Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50 SFP EBR-1 retical, Vortex bubble level, stock pack, Buttler Creek scope caps, Wal-Mart 6"-9" bipod lol..., Rifle weighs in at about 13.5 lbs. according to my Wal-Mart scale lol... If anyone has some good "LONGRANGE" loads that they would like to share feel free to shoot me some! I will be building a real custom next year if funds allow but I think this will be a descent starter, I got about $1,850 invested with 3 boxes of shells with the gun and everything except the stock is brand new, what do you guys think, money well spent or I could have done better?

Nice looking rig. Seems like you put a lot of thought and effort in to it. Good luck with your load work ups. As far as the 'better' thing, I suppose if money is no object you could always do 'better', but it's the rifleman behind the rifle that makes a gun good. Work with it, work on your skills, and it'll be a fine shooter.

yah DOCB, I think it will work fine! I have shot whitetail deer out to 425 yds with a factory rem 700 sps .270 win with Barnes 130gr x-bullets and didn't have to do any tracking, with complete pass through and it dropped right there! so I think this will be just as capable only I won't have to worry at longer distances as much but as always, proper bullet placement is key even with not so perfect bullets for the situation! thanks for posting!

That should prove a solid rig! Every one I've tuned thrived on H1000 and Berger 215's seated in the .010-.030 of the lands, makes a phenomenal long range combo!
