I have been shooting Contenders for decades but have never owned an Encore (Thanks to hotrodal) I now do. So, I need a little info fellows. Will a Contender base fit an Encore? Are the screws the same size or different? I use weaver style rings. The two I got from Al have aluminum bases and I have always used steel (just a personal preference). What I use on Contenders are Warne or Bullberry. What brand bases do you recommend? Didn't make it to gun show so looks like I will still be on the search for Encore frame. If anybody has a source for Warne or Bullberry steel weaver style base for an Encore please let me know.

Thanks in advance and I am sure I will have more questions

I think Warne still makes a steel base for the encore but the majority are aluminum. The bases don't interchange as the barrel diameters are different. The leupold bases are steel as well but aren't a Weaver style.

I have a couple of the warne steel bases but the majority are the aluminum picatinny style using Burris Signature Zee rings.

The screws have the same thread and the distance apart is the same
But the arc of the bases is different since the encore is a bigger barrel
The Weaver for contender is #92 and for the encore is #410
My first encore barrel wears a #92 base that I sized to accommodate with sandpaper around a deep socket
Otherwise, daylight could be seen beneath it's center
