Election 2016!

Regardless of our personal feelings of who we might feel will be the best possible choice to get this country back on track, we should all be giving this election alot of thought, because it is one of the most important in recent history. The next president will most likely be responsible for nominating three Supreme Court Justices, which could affect the direction of this country for several decades.

The question isn't really how bad the next president could screw us over, but rather how bad the next few Presidential Supreme Court nominations and Senate confirmations could screw us over. Interpretations of the Second Amendment could do a 180 and basically kill off or severely hinder our right to keep and bear arms.

If Hillary gets elected, I really don't see the House and Senate majorities changing, which should make it hard for her to get an anti-2nd justice nominated and confirmed, but I don't trust the so called conservatives in the Senate to hold fast and not cave. Cruz is a strong Constitutionalist and I don't see him doing anything to try and buck the 2nd, but I don't see the majorities maintaining their present status, nor do I see either side doing much to try and work with him. Trump has a strong background in business, and I believe that he believes all that he is saying, but I can't see the House and Senate staying as is, which leads to my biggest worry. He has bragged about what great deals he will make, and I am scared of what he is willing to lay on the line in order to get something done he feels is more important. In my opinion, Kasich, is the caricature the American voter sees the Republican party as. I have more respect for, Sanders, than I do, Kasich. Atleast with, Sanders, you know how bad he wants to screw you over. As far as the Second Amendment is concerned, when you take, Kasich's, past voting and deal making into account, I don't trust him to nominate a Constitutional Justice, nor do I trust him to not be the one who pushes for anti-Second legislation.

Politics is something that interests me and I try to keep myself educated on. I feel that it is our duty as Americans to try and make informed decisions. There are many issues I feel are very important, but the Second Amendment is probably the most important. Having thought about all of the different options and possibilities, I can't see any scenario surrounding the outcome of this election, where our Right to Keep and Bear Arms will not be severely threatened over the next four to eight years.

Again, just my two cents.

I think either candidate from the left will continue to relentlessly attack the 2nd amendment. They have to. You simply can not have a socialist country if the people have the power to defend them selves against the government.

As far as deal making. The current way that Republicans make deals is to give something up. That is a bad deal. A good deal is when the deal gets done without giving something up. We are all afraid of the word deal because of how it has been done in the past. We all worry about the ruling class taking our freedom because they work together to protect their power. The fact that both sides are working so hard to take Trump down tells me that both sides fear that they are about to lose their ruling class that they have worked so hard to get. The Republican party can not own Trump as he does not need them. He will nominate justices that will be constitutional. Remember the constitution checks the power of the government. Both sides. This strikes fear into both sides. My opinion is that the power brokers in the Republican party are not constitutional because it threatens their power. Thus they would work with Democrats to nominate non constitutional justices in order to keep their power. It is a great formula for the Republicans to say they are fighting for our constitutional rights, and that we need them to do this. They keep their power and we vote for them hoping that they can help keep our freedom. All the while they keep giving away our freedom in order to guarantee that we need them. If the court is stacked with constitutionalist justices then we will no longer need the Republicans to fight for us. Thus they lose their power. Trump will not protect the power of the ruling class. He will protect our freedom because he will not be beholden to the power structure and free to nominate constitutional justices. Cruz used to be that guy. I am not sure he is anymore. I think he is making bad deals with the establishment in order to gain his own power. He can't beat Trump without the help of the establishment. When he accepts their help he allows the leash to be put around his neck.

I will vote for whoever the Republican nominee is and hold out hope that our constitution will continue to keep us free.

Your closing sentence best sums up our most viable coarse of action. But it must be done by all of us gun owners and your concept must be applied on ALL fields of the ballot. What shocks me is that their are an estimated 60-70 million gun owners in the US. If we could get the word out to all of them the we really would have a real good chance of keeping the pro gun majority in the House and Senate and even, god willing, get a pro second ammendment president. At every opportunity I educate gun owners on the stakes of this election and tell them that the only way to ensure our second amendment's survival is to vote for the Republican candidate on every field on the ballot.

I think so. I think he is the right guy at the right time. Both side hate him. I think he will break up the one party system that currently exists. The power structure and pay to play is about to end.
