I have given the eldx 220 grain a lot of testing through my 30 338 lapua improved and they can't compete unfortunately. I really wanted to shoot them but the performance just isn't there. I an setting on two new boxes and if anyone's interested in them pm me.

They just wouldn't group as good and the only load that was close to acceptable was not holding enough energy at 1000. tried a bunch of different combinations and maybe I am just being to picky. I was comparing them to the 230 otms and used various primers and h1000 and rl33

My brother and I both did l.d. on our 300rum rifles independently. We both ended up with 93 retumbo in rp brass using a 215 for the fire at 3.650" oal. We've both been around the block a time or two with the 300rum, but to get exactly the same results was a bit odd to say the least.
With the 225 hornady hpbt in my 300rums I've used either 100-102grains rl50 or 95 grains rl33. Your lapua improved should thrive on rl50 with the edge on case capacity it has over the 300rum.

Why don't you try the 212 ELDs? The 220gr is designed for magazine boxes that are O.A.L. sensitive. I think your .30-338 Lapua would do awesome with the 212s. Besides the 212gr has a BC of .673 compared to the 220s .650, not really fair to compare the low BC Hornady to Berger's best .30cal offering.

Also, what kind of energy are you wanting to get at 1000 yards?

I will try that! I heard the 212 had a high bc but didn't realize it was that high. I will have to try some if I can find them

I am running the 212 in my 300 rum with 94 grains retumbo. I am Showing slight psi sign but shoots amazing. I am .027 off the lands. 3175 fps on magneto speed. 60 clicks @ 1050 and .85" high @ 100 yds.
