I was speaking to a buddy as im thinking about upgrading my stock and he said that if i went with a Manners that i could just throw it on and start shooting, but if i bought a McMillan i would have to get it pillar/glass bedded before i mounted it or there wouldn't be a point in putting it on. Now i know stuff like HS precision come with an aluminum bedding block and with AI stocks they have an aluminum bedding block in it as well so they dont need to be bedded but at the same time wouldn't hurt to get pillars in the HS.

what do you say?

I have used all of the stocks you named and they all shot better after bedding.

Bedding eliminates movement of the action and barrel in the stock. In order to get different barreled actions in a stock there must be some clearance. This allows some movement .Bedding eliminates movement and creates a perfect fit improving accuracy potential.

Cartridges are sized smaller than SAMME chambers so they will chamber in any action.

Stocks are sized larger so they will allow any action to fit (All actions are not dimensionally identical).

Bed them all, and don't look back or wonder if you should have bedded the rifle when the test loads don't perform as well as you thought they should.

I bought a manners T5A for my 300 rum with a Hart barrel. I went with the mini-chassis and DBM.
I slapped is on and started shooting. I'm shooting both the 230 berger targets and 185 hybrid hunters at .25 moa at 200 yards. I'm never going to bed mine. But if you don't get the mini-chassis, I would have it with pillars and bedded.

I have about 12 McMillan's and only half of them are bedded and I can't really tell the difference to be honest. I will say that all of them have the built in pillars.
