I was fire-forming some Win brass I had neck turned and using 49 grs. IMR4895 w/Sierra 168 HPBT and F210M primer. Just an old 'worn out cartridge'....30/06!

Where did you get IMR 4895?
Dig it out from under the bench or break open some mil ammo?
I haven't even heard about that powder for 10 years.

IMR4895??? From my 'cache'!! I shot tons of it over a 45 year career shooting NRA HP comp!!
The load is in the Sierra manual!! Was just using it to FF and the 168s which I have a PU truck load of were just for the FF job!
It ain't a 'puzzie' load!

Here's another. Shot this this afternoon with a 6.5x47Lapua using 130 gr. Bergers with BR-4 primer. Looks just like the one above but with 26" barrel.
Ten shots from 600 yds. in that 5" diameter plate. I painted over the lead/jacket splatters on the larger white plate for photo purposes. There's 5 shots at the lower portion of the 5" AR400 plate.

1-10 in the '06 and 1-8.5 for the 6.5. Both Krieger barrels.

As you are well aware I am quite certain.....the ole Garand won't take a constant pounding (with some powders) due to the way the Op Rod responds so loads have to be kept to a minimum concerning reloads and bullet weights used.
The 49 gr. load is listed as a max load....but I can't recall what the velocity was given at right now. I always start at the low side and work up and that's what I did with this load. No pressure signs on the brass and easy bolt lift; my main concern was to just get this brass FF so I could go back with H4350 and Berger 185 VLDs.
It shoots the 168 mighty well however!
