Yep some very good friends of mine recently had two seperate investors tell them the price of #2 diesel is a whopping 6 cents per gallon...wake up America..apparently Trinidad and Tobago are at .25 per gallon ..any of you guys heard this...

Not really sure of your point here??

America consumes more than we pump, and the World consumes 1000 barrels per second. I suppose that you could buy your own oil well and sell it as cheaply as you like, but I suspect that you would sell it on the open market for as much as you can get...just like everyone else.

edge.

PS the oil market, like most commodity markets are fairly transparent. You can buy and sell just like the Big Boys. It is an "open outcry" market, people buy and sell out in the open.
An oil company can't decide the price, the only thing they could do is cut production, but most refineries run at over 90% of capacity.

eh, how you do you propose we get it here

Its a long drive down there....by boat or plane or seriously modified 4x4.... Then you have an anti western government that doesnt smile on capitalism. Yeah they have some pretty sweet crude, it was the stuff in the 80's and we bought a heck of a lot of it, couple a years ago a man named hugo chavez came around and didn't like the ol us. We no longer buy his oil, and nobody else does either. And even though he's gone we probably wont buy any for a while. As far as trinidad and tobago, its a tough country to buy from as well but I'm almost positive that we pump quite a bit out of there. Just buy the time it reaches you and me its at the market rate of 4.03 a gallon.

We buy most of our oil from canada, about 60% of it. Its not the greatest crude and its a little harder to refine but hey, they are good people and dont use the money to bomb us. Any one care to make a connection between their dollar value and how much oil of theirs we buy.

I vote fiscally conservative, drive a cheap car that gets 41mpg. Have no debt and am working on my savings. I guess I'm awake, don't like the fuel price.... Then find another way.

Pst,
You really crack me up, so far no one has got the real point except Roy.

Pst, you certainly missed the point ,It is my fellow patriots that I am most worried about, those who have served to make the USA what it is, those that are now truck drivers, farmers, construction workers, teachers etc, Those who are loosing there land, their homes and their hopes and there savings, in these rough times. Those that are the very base of our structure and our foundation.

These are the persons I am thinking of , and I think something can and will be done. I simply made a statement and wondered if anyone else had heard the same.

Currently the only reason I am in front of my Pc is because, I am working on a consortium/co-op Diesel fuel purchase. This to help a couple of my buddies save their businesses, I mentioned in my first post, they are commercial fishermen and veterans, as fuel prices are keeping them at the docks..Its called working together.

Guess your at your PC , because recess is going on.

But I will say this to you..Thankyou for your service to our youth.

Hell, that ain't nothin'.

Go buy a sack of flour for an eye opener.

It's just a sign of the times.........

What MORON had the great idea to use Food for Fuel!

Corn to Ethanol.....only Washington could do things so bass ackward....and give a subsidy to boot!

edge.

Yeah that corn is so very efficient and such a new idea, I can remember it being used in the days when the Mother Earth movement was in full swing,,1976 or something,,I can not think of a smaller bandaid which could have been used.

I am sick of the Greens talking about Corn Ethanol.

If you want to see if it is efficient, than mandate Ethanol for all of its production!
If the Government mandated that Ethanol must be used as the energy source for distillation, transportation, and fertilization in its production, then production of Corn Ethanol would stop.

edge.

Hey strick9

Did you bother to find out WHY fuel is cheap in Venezuela before going on this rant??? Or, are you, like so many others, blindly convinced that "Big Oil" is out to bleed you dry and content to remain ignorant so you will have someone to blame for your problems????

Here's a hint......the Venezuelan government subsidizes fuel........they sell it below the cost of producing it......DUH! But, hey, don't let facts get in the way of what you want to believe.....

I do get it. I'm not so sure you do. We live in a free market capitalist economy. I like it that way. If I didn't, I would leave.

The reason fuel is so high is because oil companies raise their prices and we keep buying it. Demand is high. Prices go up. We keep buying it because we can afford it. As long as that happens, prices will continue to rise. These are fundamentals of a free-market economy.

Gas is cheap in Venezuela because they can't afford anything higher and the price is effectively set by the government. They are moving to a socialist/communist society where prices are not driven by market forces.

People who bitch about our free-market economy are free to leave to see if the grass greener somewhere else. Venezuela doesn't have an immigration problem like we do either. I just can't understand why people aren't trying to move there since gas is so cheap…. and everyone is trying to come here, where it's so expensive?

People are losing their houses in the US because they bought poorly. Not because of what our government has done. They foolishly got into ARM's so they could buy houses they couldn't afford. But it was their choice to do so. No one forced them into it. Now that their ARM's are adjusting… they lose their houses and blame others. The market will correct itself. That's what's happening now.

When 80% of the people on welfare in the US are overweight and we have a whopping 4.8% unemployment rate, I don't buy statements like "in these rough times. These are not rough times. Maybe they are coming but they are not here yet.

I know a couple with 3000sq.ft. house, no kids, and 3 cars (one brand new, 2 are just 3 years old) who bitch about the "rough" times. Please….tell that to one of the thousands of 6 person families who live in boxes in Caracas. Hey… at least they can get their gas for 5 cents a gallon.

I'm a teacher, have 2 children. Yet I can afford to fill my tank every weekend and go coyote hunting. However, my truck is 12 years old and my house is small. If my truck breaks down, I fix it. I don't go buy another. I live within my means. I also feel lucky to have my job and to have been born in this country… even with gas prices above $3/gallon.

The only real problem we have in this country is that we have it too good… and most people don't realize it. The media is doing the "chicken little" dance and people are buying into it.

For everyones benefit, but especially, buzz for big oil and pst4meonly. If you are not at all woried about the price of fuel and how it affects our economy, If you are not aware of the horrors of depression, and can not see that we are as close to that as we have been in some time, then brothers I must respect your opinion call me overly worried and out of whack but I would still put out a hand whilst wishing you the best.

Am I overly worried about others who maybe weaker or not as intelligent as I, Yes. Have I made very wise decisions financially , you bet your sweet arse, do I condemn someone because they made a silly decision, NO. If I feel I can pass on some information or ask a question that may increase a persons awareness of the outside world I will do so, and would hope that others would do the same for me, I wonder still if anyone else has heard the same info as I have? Quite frankly I don't give a Sh#t about how we got here, or your views on big oil or mortgage arms, but I do care about the strength of our nations future, Maybe it was my statement ,"Wake up America" that scared you from your little corners of peacefull bliss.

I'm aware that many people who have not lived in a 3rd world country are not aware of hardships or have a lot of money( Blind sheep they may be called). I have lived in two third world countries remotely. I also lived on my own her in the good ole USA without running water and electricity for quite sometime, grew my own food and harvested the rest, out of choice, However Pst, you are right the market will correct itself and hard times maybe coming. I also think you may want to know that the Sun will eventually burn out and engulf the earth..

But most of all, thanks for the insight about Americans who were not as smart as you in their buying decisions and are suffering and you are not. I imagine that they will remember that when called upon. I am also thankful that you have given me the insight that I can quit worrying about my country, which our families have defended and died for, and move to Venezuela.

You just don't seem to get it.......yes, we are all feeling the pinch of high fuel prices.....but making foolish comparisons or laying blame where it doesn't belong does no good......some of us are disciplined enough to say no to things we can't really afford......when making a purchase, we consider what something costs, not whether we can make the payments.......why should we feel sorry for those who make foolish decisions and spend more than they make??? Are there people in trouble through no fault of there own.....sure, but there are far more who brought this on themselves.

Educate yourself and don't get taken in by silly stories and rumors that have no basis in fact......
