Like the title says, I'd like to remove primer as a first step, not using a resizing die. I'd love to have a Harvey but cartridge won't fit. I bought a Redding large decapping die, doesn't fit. Is the anything available short of an ice pick, mallet and a little hole in my bench, that will work?

See if you can borrow somebodies RCBS Universal de-capping die. If you can't borrow one maybe a call to RCBS to get the I.D. of the universal de-capping die to see if it will work. If these suggestions don't work call John Whidden (Whidden's Gunworks). He made some full length resizing dies that will accept Redding neck bushings for a Wildcat that I came up with. I was very pleased with the work & price. Carrie & John are as good as they come.

RCBS universal won't even come close. The Gibbs is a big honker. It is the ancestor of the Cheytac.

A Lee decapper and base may work. Similar idea to the ice pick and mallet, but is correctly sized for the primer flash hole.
