I have an older 4.5-14x with BP reticle on my Ruger M77 MKII in .338 WM; has very clear and crisp glass.

I personally don't think you can go wrong with the Burris line. Wish the fullfield ll would come out with reliable target turrets. If SWFA can do it why can't Burris? Come up with an answer to the super chicken. And they would own that market. Are you listening Burris?????

So, after looking over some scopes and reading reviews I've went with the Vortex Viper 3x9x40mm dead hold bdc, price was about the same as the Burris and there were more positive reviews on the Vortex.
