looking into doing another rifle build but need help picking a caliber. build will be for coyotes and deer. Below are the calibers I currently have.

223 cz 527 varmint target
30-06 pump rem 7600 (my swamp rifle)
300 win mag custom build by Piercision Rifles

I'd want something a little flatter shooting. Those dang coyotes don't always stand still for dialing drops and dinking around with holdovers. I'll buck the trend and suggest a 25 cal. 25-06 or 257 Weatherby.

6.5 may beat the 25 cal with wind at extended ranges.

Zero the 257WB at 300, and you're only a few inches low at 400.

If one wants flat trajectory then 6mm would be the better option. You can push a 105 berger or 108 eld to 3150-3200 with modern 6mms. Higher bc than the 25s making it flatter and buck the wind better.

What's the fastest 6mm you can build?
6mm-06 Ackley is probably the fastest semi-common. I shoot a .243 and it's been pretty good. I will put a .243 Ackley Improved barrel on when it gets shot out.
If you want to go full om crazy, there is a 6mm-7mm rem mag, I think it's called a 6mm mach4? Or do a 6mm stw....lol

My 22-284 really flies flat with a 80 gr Berger. N570 and R25 get me to 3550-3600 fps. Might work for you.

I would probably go with an 8 twist 6 x 47 Lapua. Should be able to get close to 3200 FPS with a 105/107 grain load, and it will reach out as far as you want to shoot.
